mama remix. a touch of tribal.

i believe that there are certain  pieces of clothing that every woman should own.  i actually have a list, but who cares about my list...we're all different and each have our own.
my point is not so much about the individual items on our lists but more about what we do with those items. i don't know about you, but for some strange reason i end up wearing the same things over and over again even though i have a closet full of cool stuff. maybe it's the fact that my weight is always fluctuating {any fellow emotional eaters out there?} or maybe it's just because i am always running like a chicken with her head cut off and don't have time for myself...i don't usually get dressed, i "throw on".
 with that said, i've been racking my brain lately on how to combat this issue of outfit stagnancy.  one option would be to buy every single piece in the alice & olivia fall 2011 collection. unfortunately, i don't have the sultan of brunei's bank roll...so that option is a bust.
 the other option is breaking into kourtney kardashian's house and stealing everything in her closet. the problem there is none of her stuff would fit me! the woman is 5 foot, size nothing and i am 5 foot 10, size big.
the last and much more realistic option is what i would like to call the MAMA REMIX.
it goes a little sumthin' like zisssss...
take a few items you already own. remember the aforementioned list?
{ex: skinny cargos, striped shirt, wedges, etc.}
add
a nail polish color you wouldn't normally use.
{don't skip this step. painted nails make a huge difference!}
then add
one trendy {or classic, if you are a classic kinda mama} new article of clothing/jewelry.
finish off with
a fun hairstyle like a high & messy bun or a side braid
and
voila! a whole new look (:
 i'm currently loving the tribal trend this winter so the "trendy addition" to this particular mama remix will be something tribalish {is that a real word?}.  my heart is set on the perfect cozy wozy, as my beauties would call it,  tribal inspired sweater  so i'll keep you posted on whether or not i find it. maybe i'll do a sunday style post wearing it.

p.s. i created my mama remix on polyvore. if you haven't joined yet, do it.  i promise you will love it.

three little things.

i'm having phone issues...baaaaaaahhhhh. i'm so over cell phones! well. not really, but i am pretty annoyed that i didn't have mine this week and that i wasn't able to capture my three little things.
 luckily, i had some photos from the past couple months saved in my computer so i will just share a few of those. after all, they still make me just as happy this week as they did when i took them.
{neck candy. lots & lots of neck candy}
{my big beauty and her fabulous artwork}
{my beautiful sis-in-law & my nephew who i pretty much can't live without}

what are some of the little things in your life that make you happy?

child with style. suri cruise

at the tender age of 4 suri cruise is already a fashion force to be reckoned with.
 lipstick scandal &  high heel controversy aside, this adorable tinseltown tot has made quite a mark on the children's fashion world. her girly girl wardrobe is an eclectic mix of high fashion & mass produced brands; from burberry to baby gap to custom marc jacobs to princess dress up shoes, this little lady wears it all...except pants {according to her famous daddy}.
here are some of my favorite looks the lil' diva has sported recently...

bottega louie.

one of the perks to having a shoppe in the la area is all the cool lunch spots you get to choose from. although i don't go to bottega louie often, it is one of my very favorite places to eat...actually one of my very favorite places to be in. period.
the food, the pastries {ooohhhh the pastries}, the decor, the ambiance, and even the loudness just do it for me. there really is no other place like it. if you live or are ever in the los angeles area i highly recommend you check it out for yourself and don't forget to take a box of macarons on your way out!

mini-me dressing. leather jackets.

earlier this year i shared my thoughts on mini-me dressing { you can read all about it here}. i had so much fun finding cool mommy & me fashions that i decided to turn it into a frequent post on the blog.

anyone who knows me knows i have a soft spot for leather jackets {okay, i confess, it's a borderline obsession}. i wear them with just about everything. i love that you can dress them up with a flowy dress, creating the perfect juxtaposition of hard & soft, and i love that you can dress them down with a pair of skinnies & a tee.
since leather {& faux leather} jackets are such an integral part of my wardrobe i decided my beauties will need one of their own. for you mamas & papas who are equally as enamored with this wardrobe staple,  here are a few great buys for the whole family.

three little things.

the past two weeks have been jam packed with all kinds of activities. a new project, a turkish festival, hiking, two birthdays, disneyland and of course all my regular mama duties. although hectic, i wouldn't do life any other way.
here are three little things that made me smile during all the hoopla...
{a beautiful morning walk with my beautiful cousin}
{a master at work at the anatolian festival}
{hiking with my little family}
