cake balls.

a few weeks ago i attended the CRAVE Los Angeles launch event in santa monica.
CRAVE los angeles is The Ultimate Urban Girl's Guide Book to some of the coolest restaurants, shops, and businesses in the los angeles area. the best part...they are all women owned businesses.
talk about girl power!
this post however, is not about the uber cool event itself nor the fact that the shoppe is featured in the guide book {i will tell you more about that another time}. this post is about the delicious little cake balls i ate at the event {so delicious indeed-our entourage was accused of eating all of them and given dirty looks the entire night by the person who had wrongfully accused us of doing so-true story!}.
so i'm sure you are thinking, "what kinda cake balls are these that would cause grown women to get their panties all in a knot over?". well, let me tell you. these little cake balls are a pms dream come true {i happened to be PMSing the night of the event}. they consist of moist cake in the middle with a white or milk chocolate crust {heaven right?}.
my favorites:
red velvet and strawberry.
other options included chocolate, lemon, and spice.
so after thinking about these darn little balls for two weeks straight i decided to find out where they came from and take my dolls to pick some up. i picked up my CRAVE book and called every bakery featured. sadly, i was outta luck because no one knew what the heck i was talking about.
then one day it dawned on me-i'll ask the CRAVE girls directly.
i signed on to their Facebook page, asked, and got an answer 10 minutes later (ahhh, the joys of social media!).
to my surprise the cake balls didn't come from a bakery at all, they came from a candy a shop.
but not just any candy shop though....check it out.

here they are in all their glory.
little balls of moist chocolate covered heaven.

after a thorough inspection the girls took a few bites. sadly for them and lucky for me, they did not share in their mommy's euphoria. they preferred the the candy lipstick dispensers from the candy bar. go figure!
{i say lucky for me because i ended up with more than one ball!}
SweetHarts5
so if you are in the LA area and you enjoy sugar you must stop by SweetHarts. believe me you'll thank me after.
xo, ryam
