after visiting the san diego mission this weekend with our beauties, we decided visiting the remaining twenty missions that line california's golden coast is a must for our lil' fambam...
much to their papa's delight {he's the academic in the family}, the girls thoroughly enjoyed their time at the mission. nylah was particularly taken with the story of father junipero serra crossing the big ocean on a boat from spain...she bombarded her papa with questions which he happily {& proudly!} answered. while they discussed historical facts found on the mission brochure {which, as you can see from the photos, she didn't let go of for one minute}, samirah and i ran around admiring the gardens and architecture.
we got home pretty late and one would think the girls would be exhausted from a full, hot as all get out day in san diego but nooooooo...they wanted to paiiiiiiiint! although i wanted nothing more than to collapse on my bed i sucked it up and had them watercolor a few paintings about what they learned at the mission that day...thankfully, papa joined in and did most of the work.
