i begin my backtracking journey through this last year with bethany and baby mathew. i met this beautiful mama years ago at my best friend sherri's wedding in seattle and instantly hit it off with her. her friendly demeanor and witty personality earned her an automatic spot on my favorites list. like many acquaintances do, bethany and i kept "in touch" via social media after the wedding. well wishes during birthdays and baby announcements,as well as light hearted exchanges about random things were a common occurrence between us - my favorite one being the exchange about us being pregnant at the same time AND having due dates that were days apart.
aleinah was born on november 22nd and mathew the following day.
sadly, baby mathew is no longer on this earth. i won't go into detail about what happened {you can read it all here} but what i will go into detail about is the INCREDIBLE impact his short, little life has made on mine. such an impact that i think about him almost every day. i think about his mama too - her strength...her courage...her love for her baby boy.
because of mathew, i hold my beauties a few extra seconds before i let them go.
because of mathew, i don't sweat the small stuff.
because of mathew, i perform the menial and mundane "mommy" duties without complaint.
and because of mathew, i am very aware that time is short and memories are all we have when those we love so dearly are gone.
thank you mathew for impacting my life - i hope you had the most amazing birthday party in heaven!
and to you, bethany, i want to say thank you. thank you for being you and for using mathew's legacy to make a difference in the life of others.
